A PERFECT DAY TO DREAM

This piece is a celebration of the beauty and power of the dancing body framed by Verdi´s classical tones. Anton Lackhy utilizes the individual character of each dancer and intertwines it with his own quirky and humorous style.

THE SWAN

Due to popular demand IDC will re-stage this beautiful and romantic duet this season. The Swan is a very accessible piece, so these matinee performances offer a nice day out for the whole family.

MINUS 16
By Ohad Naharin - the rock star of the dance world

Minus 16 by Ohad Naharin has been an audience favourite all over the world. This clever and humorous piece breaks down the barrier between audience and the performers. Set to music ranging from Dean Martin to cha-cha, mambo, techno and traditional Israeli music. The production is supported by the Aurora foundation.

Groβstadtsafari by Jo Strömgren will be presented the same evening. This piece has received great reviews in Iceland and abroad since it was first premiered by the company in March 2011. Groβstadtsafari is a powerful and catching performance with intensive movements. The piece really demonstrates the physical abilities of the dancers.

JOURNEY

Journey is an unconventional piece where the interplay of dance, music and film bring to light unexplored emotions from the audience. Iceland Dance Company and dance-music icon GusGus join forces to create a piece, not bound by one particular artform, to the premiere of short films by Reynir Lyngdal and Katrin Hall. Filippia Elisdottir and Adalsteinn Stefansson are in charge of set, costume and lighting design. Journey is a collaboration by IDC, GusGus, Reykjavik Arts Festival and Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Center

Premiere: May 18th in Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Center
